The HBO hit miniseriesBand Of Brothersand its follow-up,The Pacific, bothtake place during World War 2 but revolve around different military campaigns — one in Europe and the other in Asia. Band Of Brothers revolves around a group of real-life soldiers in the Easy Company, a special division of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, and is told from the perspective of the European Theater. In contrast, The Pacific highlights the true storyof soldiers from three differentunitsof the United States Marine Corp's who fought in the Pacific Theater during World War 2. Band Of Brothers was the first of the two HBO real-life war-time drama series released by the streaming platform to critical acclaim. The 10-part series originally aired in 2001, followed by The Pacific,in 2010, as a 10-part companion piece to Band of Brothers.

Both series open during World War 2, with Band of Brothers beginning Part 1 in June of 1944, as the Easy Company prepares for D-Day, before flashing back to three years prior when the men first began jump training at Camp Toccoa. Like all of the battles and locations laid on by the miniseries, Camp Toccoa is a real place, and the Easy Company did train there before the landing of Normandy. Aug. 7, 1942 (to Feb. 9, 1943) - Guadalcanal
The Pacific Parts 1-4 cover the Guadalcanal campaign, also known as Operation Watchtower. This campaign was fought in the Pacific Islands and included several World War 2 battles between August 1942 and February 1943.TheHBO series covers the three major land offensives of the campaign. The Battle of Savo Island and the Battle of the Tenaru both took place in August of 1942. InThe PacificPart 3, the series features the Battle for Henderson Field, which was fought in the Soloman Islands from October 23-26, 1942. This was the last of the major Japanese offenses at Guadalcanal.
December 26, 1943 (to January 6, 1944) - Battle of Cape Gloucester
The PacificPart 4 portrays the real-lifeBattle of Cape Gloucester in the New Britain Territory of New Guinea. As the series shows, fightingcontinued on the island until January 1944, and the marines were finally relieved by the US Army force in April. Like Leckie and the rest of the 1st Marine Division in The Pacific, the Marines left G moved on to Pavuvu, where they were provided temporary housing until returning to battle at Peleliu.
June 6, 1944 (to Aug 30, 1944) - D-Day & Normandy
Switching back and forth between 1941 and 1944, Band of Brothers Part 1 opens by introducingthe audience to the men of Easy Company on the eve of D-Day and ends just before the landing of Normandy on June 6, 1944, which is where the series picks up at the beginning of Part 2, which covers the Normandy landings and the Brecourt Manor Assault on June 6, 1944. Band of Brothers Part 3 continues with the Battle of Carentan and the Battle of Bloody Gulch. All three were part of a series of battles following the invasion of Normandy by the 506th parachuters in June of 1944.

Sept. 15, 1944 (to Nov 27, 1944) - Peleliu
The Pacific Part 5-7takes place in Peleliu. Starting as the men move to capture the airfield, the show then portrays the marines as they face the Japanese on the Hill, paying specific attention to the fighting that occurred at Bloody Nose Ridge. Codenamed Operation Stalemate II, the Battle of Peleliu lasted from September 15 through November 27, 1944.
Sept. 17-25, 1944 - Operation Market Garden
At the same time, over in Europe, Easy Company was parachuted into the Netherlands. Operation Market Garden took place from September 17-25, 1944. Overall, the operation was considered unsuccessful due to the fact that it failed to secure a bridgehead over the Rhine, but the Easy Company did manage to accomplish what they set out to do by liberating the city of Eindhoven.Band of Brothers Part 4 portrays the true story of this endeavor.
Dec. 16, 1944(to Jan. 25, 1945) - Battle of the Bulge
Band of Brothers Parts 6-8 next follows the men as they move on to The Battle of the Bulge, one of the major German offensive campaigns of the war. Starting in December of 1944, the battle raged on through the forested Ardennes between Belgium and Luxembourg. The Battle of the Bulge was the largest and deadliest campaign of World War 2 for the United States.Band of Brotherscovers "The Bulge" through the Siege of Bastogne.
Feb. 19. 1945 (to July 2, 1945) - Battle of Iwo Jima & Okinawa
During World War 2, the 1st Marine Division fought back-to-back battles at Iwo Jima and Okinawa, true stories which are recounted inThe Pacific Part 8-9. America managed to capture the Japanese island at Iwo Jima, but at a great cost. The battle lasted five weeks, resulting in thousands of casualties and one of the bloodiest battles of the war in the Pacific Theater. The other was the Battle of Okinawa, which began the day that Iwo Jima ended on March 26, 1944. By the end of the battle on July 2, 1945, the city had lost nearly half of its citizens to the war, including Okinawa civilians who'd been forced to act as human shields.

April-Sept, 1945- End of World War 2 in Europe & Asia
Starting in Band of Brothers Part 9, the series shows the beginning of the end, when Easy Company helps to liberate the Kaufering Subcamps at Dachau in Germany. This is followed by Hitler's death on April 30, 1945, and Germany's surrender on May 7, 1945, marking the end of World War 2 in Europe. Back in The Pacific, the battles raged on. At the end of The Pacific Part 9, the men hear about the American bomb that wiped out an entire Japanese City, and Japan surrenders on September 2, 1945.
While Easy Company and all of the men of the 101st Airborne Division fought their way across Europe, the United States Marine Corp's stood their ground on the other side of the world, fighting on the Pacific Front.
