Individual

  • You will need information from a California tax return filed for 1 of the last 5 tax years
  • If you do not have a copy of your return, you must call us
  • You cannot use information from an amended return
  • Before you register, we must have your current mailing address in our records. If you need to update it, call us.
  • Do not use your social security number (SSN) as your user name
  • After registering, we’ll send you a Personal Identification Number (PIN) to the mailing address we have on file

Fiduciary and Group Form 540NR filers

You cannot register for a MyFTB account at this time.

Businesses representative

  • You will need information from a California tax return filed for 1 of the last 5 tax years
  • If you do not have a copy of your return, you must call us
  • You cannot use information from an amended return
  • Before you register, we must have your current mailing address in our records. If you need to update it, call us.
  • Do not use your Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) as your user name
  • Register using these numbers:
  • Corporation: California Corporation ID Number (7 digits)
  • Limited Liability Company (LLC): Secretary of State (SOS) ID Number (9 or 12 digits)
  • Partnership: Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) (9 digits)
  • After registering:
    • We will send you a Personal Identification Number (PIN) to the mailing address we have on file
    • You can add additional businesses to your account

LLC filing as a corporation

  • Register using your 7-digit corporation ID number
  • All payments will apply to your corporation account
  • If you need to make a payment on your LLC account, you will need to register for a another MyFTB account using your 9 or 12-digit LLC ID number and a different user name and password
  • You’ll have 2 accounts - 1 to make corporate payments and 1 to make LLC payments

When you register:

  • Select Corporation for type of company
  • Select Form 199 for tax form type

Tax Professional

  • You will use your professional identification number to register
  • To automatically view client accounts with an active POA declaration on file, we recommend you use your 9-digit Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN)

Use 1 of these professional ID numbers to register:

  • California Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Number (5 or 6 digits)
  • California State Bar Number (3 to 6 digits)
  • Enrolled Agent (EA) Number with a California address on file with the IRS (5 to 8 digits)

Activate your account

  • When you register for a MyFTB account, we mail you a Personal Identification Number (PIN) to the mailing address we have in our records
  • You must log in with your User Name, Password, and PIN, within 21 days to activate your account
  • If you do not use the PIN within 21 days, you will need to re-register
  • We’ll not provide your PIN over the phone
